Affiliate interview of the month - Transtir

This month, we interviewed Valentina Sarti, Import and National Manager at Transtir Srl.

Tell us about your company! What is the story behind your business, and what is your role within it?

Transtir was founded in 1978 as an international freight forwarder. In 2015, the ownership of Transtir changed, bringing with it a new vision and corporate structure. In 2016, Fratelli Meoni in Prato was acquired, and in 2017 Transtir Milano was established.

As demand for logistics space increased, Transtir invested further in 2023 by opening a new branch in Reggiolo. A daily shuttle service was then established between the Carpi and Prato branches, enabling extensive distribution coverage throughout Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany using our own fleet, while ensuring daily national and international transport operations from both regions.

The Milan office manages partial and full truckloads both nationally and internationally, as well as sea and air import/export shipments. The new ownership invested heavily in service diversification and strengthened domestic transport services for groupage, partial loads, and full truckloads.

In 2025, Transtir Srl became part of the Sogedim Group, marking another significant milestone in the expansion of the services offered to customers and opening new export routes.

I am responsible for the Import and National Services division.

I manage relationships with our international partners regarding shipments destined for Italy, as well as collections across Europe arranged on behalf of our customers. I coordinate and oversee the operations of the import and domestic transport team. In addition, I serve as Transtir’s point of contact for the networks we belong to and for the Italian partners with whom we collaborate throughout the country.

How long have you been part of the CDS Group, and what motivated you to join the network?

Transtir joined CDS in 2018.

Our international partners and customers increasingly required broader service coverage throughout Italy, together with the ability to manage different types of goods and recipients while maintaining the same level of efficiency.

The CDS network offered extensive national coverage and a wide range of value-added services that met our customers’ needs. The combination of service diversification, territorial coverage, and the awareness that being part of a solid and reliable network of partners is essential to satisfying customer requirements were the main reasons that led us to join the CDS Group.

What are the key characteristics that make your service unique in the areas and provinces you serve for the Group? Which customers or sectors represent your main strengths?

Export operations have always been our core business. Over the years, we have expanded our service portfolio by adding sea and air import/export services to our road transport solutions, including LTL, FTL, and European groupage services.

Furthermore, thanks to long-standing relationships with internationally respected partners, we are able to handle types of freight that many other forwarders struggle to manage, including non-standard shipments and oversized packages, while ensuring a precise and reliable service.

One of our greatest strengths is our direct distribution network, managed internally by our traffic department. This allows us to coordinate priorities effectively and respond quickly to the needs of partners, networks, and customers.

We do not focus on any specific customers or industries. On the contrary, one of our distinguishing features has always been our ability to work across all product sectors, adapting to a wide variety of packaging types and logistics requirements.

What does being part of CDS mean to you? How has the affiliation influenced your daily operations and growth opportunities?

Building a network with other companies in the industry is always a driver of growth, especially when those companies are reputable and well established within their territories. Deep knowledge of one's distribution area is a fundamental requirement for delivering a successful service.

As mentioned earlier, Transtir’s historical focus has always been exports. However, by joining CDS and relying on a network of dependable partners providing high-quality and punctual services, we have been able to broaden our service offering and, at the same time, strengthen our presence and capabilities within the domestic market.
